Code of Conduct
One Team. One Mission. Stay Human.
Team Code of Conduct
Madison Warriors Veteran Hockey (MWVH) was built on service, camaraderie, respect, and using the game of hockey to support something greater than ourselves.
Being selected to participate with MWVH is a privilege, not an entitlement. Every player, coach, staff member, and representative wearing the MWVH crest represents not only themselves but also the entire organization, our teammates, our sponsors and partners, the communities that host us, and the mission we support.
Participation with MWVH requires agreement to the following standards.
1Respect the team
All members are expected to treat teammates, opponents, officials, event staff, volunteers, sponsors, supporters, and members of the public with respect.
Harassment of any kind, bullying, intimidation, discrimination, fighting, physical violence, threats of violence, excessive personal attacks, or behavior intended to create division within the team will not be tolerated.
Disagreements happen. Handle them directly, privately, and like adults.
2Protect the locker room
What happens within the team should be handled within the team.
Players should not use private team conversations, group chats, personal information, screenshots, photographs, or internal disagreements to embarrass, attack, or undermine another member or the organization.
Concerns involving MWVH should be brought directly to team leadership rather than aired publicly or through social media.
Nothing in this Code prevents any member from reporting a crime, safety concern, harassment, abuse, or misconduct to law enforcement, a rink or tournament official, a governing body (such as USA Hockey or the U.S. Center for SafeSport, where applicable), or any other appropriate authority. MWVH will not retaliate against anyone who makes a good-faith report.
Report concerns to any member of team leadership or to info@madisonwarriors.com. If the concern involves a member of leadership, report it to another leader.
MWVH will use members’ contact details and personal information only for team purposes and will not post a member’s photo or personal details publicly without their consent.
3Represent the crest
When wearing an MWVH jersey or apparel, or otherwise publicly representing the organization, members are expected to conduct themselves accordingly.
This applies during games, tournaments, travel, team events, charity events, sponsor functions, social gatherings associated with MWVH, and online activity directly connected to the organization.
Actions that bring unnecessary embarrassment, hostility, or reputational harm to MWVH may result in removal from the team.
Members must also follow the rules and codes of conduct of USA Hockey (where applicable), leagues, rinks, and tournaments we participate in.
4Social media & public communication
Members are encouraged to share and support the mission of MWVH.
However, no individual player may speak on behalf of MWVH, a sponsor, a partner, or an affiliated organization unless specifically authorized to do so.
Members shall not knowingly publish false or misleading information about the organization, its players, leadership, partners, sponsors, fundraising activities, or events.
Personal social media accounts remain personal, but public conduct involving MWVH may still affect continued participation with the team.
5The mission comes before the scoreboard
MWVH exists for more than hockey.
Our games and opportunities are platforms for camaraderie, service, and awareness.
Winning is great. The mission is bigger.
No player should place personal statistics, ice time, position, recognition, or individual interests ahead of the purpose of the team.
6Fundraising
MWVH does not exist to financially support anyone’s hockey habit.
Players shall not independently solicit or collect money using the MWVH name, logo, team events, or team relationships without prior authorization.
Any approved fundraising conducted under the MWVH banner must follow the established fundraising process and clearly identify its intended beneficiary.
7Sponsors, partners & host organizations
Our sponsors and partners make many MWVH opportunities possible.
Players shall treat sponsors, donors, photographers, venues, tournament organizers, host teams, charities, and community partners professionally and respectfully.
Members may not independently negotiate, promise benefits, request products, seek financial support, or enter into agreements on behalf of MWVH without authorization from team leadership.
8Interstate travel & tournaments
When traveling with MWVH, players represent the organization from departure until the completion of the trip.
Members are expected to respect local laws, customs, tournament rules, hotels, transportation providers, host organizations, and fellow travelers.
Behavior that jeopardizes the safety of the group, damages property, disrupts an event, or harms MWVH’s ability to return to a tournament will be taken seriously.
9Team selection & participation
Being invited to one MWVH game, tournament, trip, or season does not guarantee participation in future events.
Roster selections may consider skill level, positional needs, availability, attitude, reliability, sportsmanship, team chemistry, conduct, and commitment to the mission.
No player owns a roster spot.
MWVH does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, ancestry, age, disability, or any other characteristic protected by law.
10Accountability
Violations of this Code of Conduct will be reviewed by MWVH leadership based on the circumstances and severity of the incident.
Corrective action may include:
- Verbal or written warning.
- Removal from a game or event.
- Suspension from future MWVH activities.
- Removal from an upcoming tournament or trip.
- Permanent removal from Madison Warriors Veteran Hockey.
Serious misconduct may result in immediate removal without prior warning.
Except where immediate action is needed for safety, the member will be told of the concern and given a chance to respond before a final decision. Leaders involved in the incident will not take part in the decision. A member may ask for a review of a suspension or removal by emailing info@madisonwarriors.com within 14 days.
Team leadership reserves the right to make participation decisions when it determines that an individual’s conduct is detrimental to the organization, its members, partners, or mission.
11Leaving MWVH
Members who leave or are removed from MWVH are expected to respect confidential team information, private communications, sponsor relationships, and the privacy of current and former members.
Departure from the team does not authorize an individual to represent themselves as speaking for MWVH or its partners.
The standard
You don’t have to agree with everyone.
You don’t have to be best friends with everyone.
You don’t have to win every game.
But when you wear the MWVH crest, you are expected to respect the people beside you, protect the mission, and understand that your actions represent something bigger than yourself.
Wear the crest with purpose. Respect the team. Protect the mission. Stay Human.
Player acknowledgment
I acknowledge that I have read and understand the Madison Warriors Veteran Hockey Team Code of Conduct. I understand that participation with MWVH is voluntary and that failure to meet these standards may affect my eligibility to participate in future games, tournaments, travel, or other MWVH activities.
This Code does not create a contract or guarantee a roster spot, and may be updated by team leadership. Effective October 30, 2026.
